Travel Guide To Eiffel Tower Paris, Prancis - Introduction - The Eiffel Tower is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Europe, if not the world. It is an iron structure built in 1889 for the Universal Exposition in Paris that year. It is named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel's famous. The co-architect of the tower was Stephen Sauvestre and engineers who are responsible Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier.

It took over 2 years to build the tower. Standing at 324 meters, was built by 300 workers joined together 18,038 pieces of puddle iron (pure form of structural iron), using two and a half million rivets. It is still the tallest building in Paris and one of the (unpaid) of the most visited buildings anywhere on planet earth. More than 243 million people have visited the tower since its construction for the Exposition Universelle of 1889.

The tower is repainted every 7 years, and every round of painting takes between 15 to 18 months. Approximately 60 tonnes of paint used and 25 painters who were assigned to carry out the work.

The tower is illuminated every day from sunset until 1:00 am (2:00 am during the summer). Every hour, on the hour, during the timespan of lighting, the tower also shine for aproximately 10 minutes.

Opening Hours - The Eiffel Tower is open every day of the year - 9:30 to 23:00, January 1 to June 12 and September 1 to December 31;
from 9:00 am to midnight, June 13 to August 31.
Over the Easter weekend and spring break tower will remain open until midnight. Access to the top of the tower while it can be closed if weather conditions are not favorable or if there are too many visitors at any given moment.

Visited the tower - There are three levels of the Eiffel Tower for a visit - the first (57 meters), second (at 115 meters) and (276 meters) above the floor. Visitors can also climb the stairs or take the elevator to go up the Eiffel Tower.

The stairs open to the public and go up to the second floor. There are more than 300 steps from the ground to the first floor, and another more than 300 stairs from the first floor to the second. Three elevators (north, west and east pillars) up to the first and second floors. Only one or two will be in service on any given day due to maintenance and security reasons.

To reach the top of the tower, visitors should take the elevator again from the floor. During peak season, the wait may be quite a number of visitors allowed at any time controlled for the purpose of convenience, safety and security.

Cost - Ticket prices for the tower varies, depending on the level and method of access (valid until March 31, 2012):

Note:
1. Children under 4 get in for free, with accompanying adults paying the standard rate.

Guided Tour - A 90-minute behind the scenes tours are available and must be booked in advance. Tours run on Wednesdays and Saturdays, at 10:00 am and 5:30 pm. It will take visitors to the Eiffel Tower without queuing. It costs € 20 per person, guided by English speaking guides who qualify in groups of no more than 15 people. Group fee for groups of 15-20 people is € 17 per person. Time, day and language settings can be set accordingly.

Prices do not include entrance / go beyond the first floor of the tower. Separate tickets for the second and top floor can be purchased from vending machines on the first floor.

If you can not make the Wednesday or Saturday, there are a number of tour operators that runs the Eiffel Tower tour includes a rear view screen, eating at one restaurant on the premises and skip-the-line tickets.

By Car - Vinci nearest carpark is Joffre École Militaire (2, a place Joffre 75 007). The rate is € 2.60 per hour and 24-hour rate is € 26. Or on-street parking is possible on some of the streets around the area.
By Bus - Buses that go near the tower include bus numbers 42, 69, 72, 82, 87 and Paris Open Tour bus.
By Boat - stop Batobus can be found on the Port de la Bourdonnais, a pier along the Seine River just in front of the Eiffel Tower, a little to the right (when facing towards Trocadéro).
Eating - There are two main restaurants at the Eiffel Tower. 58 Tour Eiffel can be found on the first floor and is a more affordable option. Le Jules Verne, 1-Michelin star restaurant under the direction of chef Alain Ducasse, located on the second floor and comes with an expensive price tag. Reservations are essential.

Les Buffets de la Tour Eiffel is a snack bar which can be found on the ground, first and second floor of the Eiffel Tower, selling items such as sandwiches, salads, pizza, pastries and the like, usually as a quick and cheap (er) meal. Food can be consumed on the premises or takeaway.

Other Images - There are 72 names of French scientists, engineers, and other figures engraved by Gustave Eiffel, the Eiffel Tower. Carving was previously painted over but it has been restored, and can be found on the side of the tower under the first balcony.
Regardless of the perspective view of Paris from the tower, there is also an exhibition ROM, cineiffel, souvenir shops, internet stations and post offices in the tower. For more information about what to see.
At the far end of the Champ de Mars from the Eiffel Tower stands Peace Monument (Le Mur pour la Paix) in which the word "peace" written in 32 langauges in 32 columns. It was inaugurated in 2000, and visitors can leave their personal messages of peace using computerized keyboard on the monument.
